Jamie's Journey is an animatic following the child Jamie, TO tell a story of SELF-DISCOVERY through THE use of media. This project is meant to discuss the importance of LGBTQ+ representation, as it allows children to have access to the tools necessary to develop and self-identify.
This was made in collaboration with Dr. McIllhaga, a professor in the Reading and Language Arts Dept. at Oakland University, as part of the School of Education and Human Services. This was a research project where I reviewed 30 children's animated programs spanning 3 decades, and reflected on whether the LGBTQ+ representation they had was positive, or if stereotypes influenced it. This project highlights some of the more positive programs I encountered.
Jamie's Journey was featured at the Oakland University Gallery, as part of the Senior Exhibition - Winter 2022 show, which ran from April 15th 2022 - May 15th 2022.
